Nick WATSON (Scotland)

Edinburgh based film and television composer Nick Watson has had compositions broadcast to an unsuspecting public on US and UK TV networks such as MTV, Channel 4 and E4. Young & Wild, a recent film centred around three best friends and their final weekend before they go their separate ways for college was nominated for Best Original Music at Cinema Festival Lünen.

Nick Watson is a graduate of the Composition For Screen Masters programme from the highly regarded University of Edinburgh Reid School of Music, recently ranked the highest in the UK for Music in The Guardian.

Nick has worked on short documentaries and dramas. One such short; My Brother Went For Sweets, was awarded the FilmG Theme Prize at the FilmG awards in Glasgow. Other shorts have shown at Toronto and Tribeca film festivals.

Nick worked on scoring a short for me called Monsters Under the Bed. It was a tough piece to work on due to it not quite sitting in a particular genre strongly. Nick is a talented, up-and-coming composer who worked hard on trying out many different directions until he found the right tone. He was extremely collaborative, took feedback very well and was a joy to work with. I’ll be working with him more in the future
– Jeremy Hughes, Director/Producer and Partner at Elevate Pictures

Nick composed and recorded an original score for a short documentary that I was directing. We worked together from conception through to the final output and at every stage it was a pleasure to have him on board. Nick is marvellously responsive, timely and communicative. His encyclopaedic range of influences only further enhances his creative approach to composition. Nick takes feedback well and his understanding of the collaborative nature of film-making makes him a great team player
