An advocate of a ‘less is more’ approach to film scores, Matt consciously avoids any risk of audiences becoming numb to the subtleties and story-telling role of the music.
Matt was awarded the Apprentice Award for Sound Design at the 2012 Game Audio Network Guild Awards in San Francisco, just a year after graduating with a first class honours degree in Creative Sound Design for New Media.
His primary composing instrument is the guitar, both for atmospheric textures or as an instrument for delicate melodies. He is able to adapt his approach according to the nature of the project and enjoys working with both smaller instrumentation/ensembles and large orchestrations. Experimentation with unusual instrument combinations and electronic production for distinctive sounds is a big part of what makes Matt’s scores very distinctive.
Matt is currently scoring feature film Spark (Dir. Charlie H Joslain) due for release later this year and has multiple video game credits including music for 5th Space Studios Lost In Nazca, Overflow Game’s upcoming title Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim, and Crystal Shard’s Heroine’s Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok; as well as sound design credits for Pinkerton Road Studios’ Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers – 20th Anniversary Edition, and Phoenix Online Studios’ Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller.
He? H is also able to boast numerous television music placements worldwide for networks including HBO, BBC, FOX and Sky.
